Trade Consultative Meeting on the new On-line Tracking Facility, October 6, 2008

From February 2008 onwards, licensees can track the status of application for Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD)*s food business licenses via internet.

In the near future, the Efficiency Unit (EU) will extend this initiative to Home Affairs Department (HAD)*s licenses covering Certificate of Compliance for Club and Hotel License (e.g. renewal of license, change of licensee and payments etc.). After adoption of online services, the transparency of licensing process would be increased and licensees would be alerted by email for license renewal. The first prototype will be introduced in the first quarter of 2009.

14 hotel representatives from 10 hotels attended this meeting. Attendees were active in giving opinions, e.g. to strengthen the inter-unit communication and streamline the issuance of completion report. The EU has restated their control measures and performance pledge to attendees. This meeting has provided updated information relating to industry wide issue to our members and communication platform between the government and hotel trade, which is matched with the Federation*s objectives.
