Business Liaison Group Meeting on 15 August 2023

 

The Federation attended the Business Liaison Group meeting today with positive response.  The Business Liaison Group invited the representatives from The Office of the Licensing Authority from the Home Affairs Department and Hong Kong Police Force.   

 

In 2022, there had been four new hotel licenses approval, with an average processing time of 349 days.  The Authority further explained the processing time with the Licensing Authority is averaged at 68 days.    

 

The Federation and participants in the meeting voiced concerns and comments about the inconsistencies and lack of transparencies with some licence applications in the past.  Overall, we exchanged views with the relevant departments on how to improve the current application process and recommended improvement measures to facilitate with new and renewal of hotel licences.      

  

In the meeting, the Federation also made the following recommendations for departments consideration: 

  1. Provisional Licence for new Hotel Licence applications 

  1. Enhance the communication between applicants and government departments to shorten the application process. 

  1. Optimize the electronic platform to enhance transparency and speed up hotel license application time.
