According to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH), there is recent spike in Chikungunya fever (CF) cases in multiple regions worldwide (including neighbouring areas of Hong Kong), and Hong Kong has recorded the first imported CF case this year.  The Government has implemented various emergency preparedness measures to prevent the spread of CF in Hong Kong and safeguard public health. Regarding prevention of mosquito-borne diseases in workplaces, especially in construction sites and cargo terminals, the Labour Department (LD) urges employers and employees to remain vigilant and follow the advice of CHP and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) to implement measures e.g. preventing accumulation of water, properly disposal of refuse in covered litter containers, applying insect repellent containing DEET, etc. to prevent mosquito proliferation and bites. If you discover mosquito problems in workplaces or public places, please call 1823. Details of the health information and control measures for mosquito-borne diseases, please refer to the following dedicated webpages of CHP and FEHD:
