The Federation is pleased to report the successful conclusion of the seminar “Integrity – Our Winning Edge” – Professional Integrity of the Managerial Staff in the Hotel Industry, jointly organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
The seminar was met with overwhelming response, attracting close to 500 participants from the hotel trade. This strong turnout reflects the industry’s shared commitment to upholding integrity, professionalism, and ethical management as core values of Hong Kong’s hospitality sector.
Seminar Highlights
The session provided practical insights and real‑world guidance on key integrity‑related issues relevant to hotel management, including:
- The importance of professional ethics in the hotel industry
- Common legal and ethical issues encountered in hotel operations
- Legal and administrative controls governing the industry
- Handling conflicts of interest effectively and transparently
- Practical tips on managing staff integrity
- The industry’s commitment to zero tolerance toward corruption
- An overview of ICAC’s resources and services available to the trade
Through case sharing and interactive discussion, participants gained a clearer understanding of their responsibilities as managerial staff, and how robust integrity management can strengthen governance, staff morale, and long‑term business sustainability.
Hong Kong’s Strong Integrity Foundation
The Federation would also like to highlight that corruption is not prevalent in Hong Kong, and that integrity remains one of the city’s strongest competitive advantages.
According to the ICAC Annual Opinion Survey 2024:
- 98.7% of respondents did not personally encounter corruption in the past year
- 97.4% believe that social integrity is important to Hong Kong’s development
- 93.1% consider the ICAC worthy of support
Furthermore, the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2025 ranks Hong Kong 3rd among 69 economies globally. Under the competitiveness factor of “Government Efficiency”, Hong Kong is ranked:
- 4th in the world, and
- 1st in the Asia‑Pacific region for the indicator “Bribery and corruption do not exist.”
These international and local benchmarks underscore the importance of maintaining high ethical standards across all sectors, including hospitality and tourism.

The Federation extends its sincere appreciation to the ICAC for its continued partnership with the hotel industry and for its proactive efforts in promoting integrity through education, prevention, and support. The Federation encourages members to make full use of ICAC’s resources and advisory services, and to continue fostering a strong culture of integrity within their organisations.
The Federation will continue to work closely with the ICAC and other stakeholders to promote ethical management practices and reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a trusted, competitive, and world‑class hospitality destination.
