The Hong Kong Government has consulted the Panel on Environmental Affairs of the Legislative Council and will implement the municipal solid waste charge on 1 April 2024.  In mid-2023, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) also formulated good practice guidelines for individual trades on the implementation of waste charging.  

As the relevant guidelines and the legislative requirements for the implementation of MSW charging are closely related to the operations of various industries.  EPD will brief industry representatives of the Business Liaison Groups on this agenda in a joint meeting to enable the Government and different industries to exchange views with each other.  

The Federation was invited to represent the hotel industry to attend the briefing session on September 12, 2023. Members are encouraged to share your concerns and opinions by September 8, 2023 (Friday) on MSW Charging.  The Federation will reflect your views at the briefing session.
