We are pleased to share the latest update on the Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles Scheme (“Southbound Scheme”), an initiative designed to attract visitors from Guangdong Province, stimulate local consumption, and strengthen Hong Kong’s integration within the Greater Bay Area.
Background and Latest Update
The Scheme will allow eligible Guangdong‑registered private cars to enter Hong Kong for short visits under an approved permit. This supports cross‑boundary tourism and encourages visitors to explore different districts across the city.
• First batch of southbound vehicles expected: around 23 December 2025
To prepare for the launch, the Transport Department is working closely with major shopping malls and private car park operators near key tourist and consumption hotspots to enhance parking support. A visitor information guide (“Travel Tips”) is being finalised to help travellers use the HKeMobility app to locate parking and navigate around Hong Kong.
