Survey Summary on Lunar New Year Hotel Performance 2024

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your valuable participation in the recent Lunar New Year hotel performance survey.   

 

As Hong Kong experienced a significant influx of visitors during the eight-day Golden Week period. The Immigration Department recorded approximately 1.436 million inbound visitors, with over 1.255 million visitors coming from the Mainland. The daily average of Mainland visitors surpassed previous holiday periods, demonstrating the growing appeal of Hong Kong as a preferred destination.  The hotel trade also reaped the benefits of this increased visitation, with high occupancy rates and room rates observed during the Chinese New Year period. This positive trend reflects the resilience and attractiveness of Hong Kong's hospitality sector. 

 

The survey results indicate that during the Lunar New Year (10-18 February) 87.5% and 89.28% respectively of respondents indicated Overall Average Occupancy and Room Rates hotels is either Better or Meeting Expectation.   However, for hotels where F&B is applicable to their operations, 51.2% of respondents indicated Worse than Expectation results.  

 

Furthermore, over 66.07% of respondents rated a score of 6 or above on the government's performance in promoting tourist visiting Hong Kong this Lunar New Year.
