To reduce the use of disposable plastic products at source, so as to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecology and human health and mitigate climate change, the Government plans to legislate for phased control of disposable plastic tableware and other plastic products, and the relevant bills are currently under consideration by the Legislative Council. The first phase of control will commence 6 months after the passage of the Bill into the Legislative Council (as early as early 2024). 

The EPD will hold the captioned workshop on June 29, 2023 (Thursday), to help our hotel representatives better understand the content of the regulatory scheme and the latest developments in the market, and the industry can start preparing earlier. They would like to invite our members to join the workshop. Details are as attached.

              管制即棄膠餐具和其他塑膠產品工作坊

為從源頭減少使用即棄塑膠產品，以減低塑膠污染對海洋生態及人類健康的影響及減緩氣候變化，政府計劃立法分階段管制即棄膠餐具和其他塑膠產品，而立法會現正審議相關的條例草案。為加快「走塑」步伐，同時讓社會各界有時間做好準備，我們建議首階段管制於條例草案獲立法會通過的六個月後（最早2024年年初）開始實施。  

為協助各相關的業界代表更好地掌握管制計劃的內容及市場的最新發展，讓業界更早地開始做好準備，環境保護署將於本年6月29日（星期四）下午2時半至4時半（登記於下午2:00開始）假香港朗廷酒店2樓宴會廳A舉行「管制即棄膠餐具和其他塑膠產品工作坊」，而不同的非即棄塑膠餐具和其他塑膠替代品供應商亦會同場展出和介紹他們的產品，以供業界參考。
