
The Labour Department will be holding a job fair (Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre) on the 14th and 15th of March 2024 (Thursday and Friday) and another job fair (MacPherson Stadium, Mongkok) on the 26th and 27th of March 2024 (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The Federation met with Mr Jeff SZE Chun-fai, the Under Secretary for Education and representatives from the Education Bureau; led by the Hon Perry Pak-leung YIU, Legislative Council Member (Travel Industry); together with Mr Andrew LEUNG, Chairman of Travel Industry Training Advisory Committee, Mrs Gianna HSU, Chairman of Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC), Mr Jason WONG, Honorary Advisor of TIC and Ms Fanny YEUNG, Executive Director of TIC to discuss strengthening talent training for Hong Kong's tourism and hospitality industry.

The Labour Department has launched the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS) on 4 September 2023 and began accepting applications on the same date. The Federation have received feedback from members to provide more information from employment agencies who offer professional service for employers applying for the ESLS. This briefing session, we have invited Jia Development Ltd (www.jiadl.com.hk), who will provide valuable insights and guidance on the application process.

We are pleased to announce our latest collaboration effort with the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions (HKFLU) 港九勞工社團聯會(勞聯) and the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Union (HKFTU) 香港工會聯合會 (工聯會) to organise Union House-keeping Course for our members. The Federation has invited both the HKFLU and the HKFTU to organise online briefing sessions to introduce the details of their training programme and successful experiences in training and attracting potential work force for our sector.

On 31 August 2023, the Federation organised a briefing session on the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS) with the HKHA, and supporting organisations including the Hotel Controllers & Accountants Association (HCAA), Hong Kong Laundry Service Association, and HR partner 339HR. This is the first briefing session on ESLS attended by representatives of the government for any trades after their announcement on 28 August 2023.

Please be reminded that the Labour Department Briefing Session on the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme will be held on tomorrow. Due to the overwhelming response from our members, the venue will be changed to Regal Ballroom on B1.

To alleviate the manpower shortage across different sectors, the Chief Executive in Council has earlier endorsed the enhancement of the coverage and operation of the Supplementary Labour Scheme (SLS). After consulting the Labour Advisory Board (LAB), the Labour Department (LD) will launch the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS) next Monday (September 4) and begin accepting applications on the same date.
